“Ray and Jen Costanzo master Tempranillo in Queensland’s Granite Belt. This wine is bright and perfumed, with violet, mulberry, and crushed pepper notes for quite an expressive opening. On the palate, it is full flavoured with even, powdery tannins and a long shape. Juicy dark cherry acidity gives this wine a mouth-watering finish, whilst the pillowy texture on the mid palate is what excites the most, showing broad shoulders and pronounced fruit intensity. I match it with a Sri Lankan Cashew Coconut Curry, a playful dish where there is freshness, tenderness, and an uplifting aromatic spice. The interactions between the food and the wine are elevated by the raita on the side, which with the mint, cucumber and crushed nuts give an extra element of airiness to the experience. This producer shows a deft touch once again, launching a young wine that can be enjoyed immediately, with or without food. A composed, giving, and persistent cool climate Tempranillo expression.” - David Stevens-Castro, Wine Pilot. 93 points
“Tempranillo with 60% whole bunch carbonic maceration - now that’s pushing the dial with the variety and your taste buds are the winner. A great wine from Storm King Wine Co. The list of interest just rolls out with ease. Sour red plums, sour cherry, dark cherries, red apple skin, raspberry rope, sarsaparilla and cola. Woah! The use of carbonic maceration elevates the mood adding an electric vibe to its presence. Earthy with a textural presence feathered throughout the mouth, it is softly spiced and rides long. Red apple acidity features on an excitable finish. Initially, I thought some more weight would complete it but it fleshed out beautifully on day two of tasting. Give it a little time or a decant to watch it blossom.” - Steve Leszczynski, Qwine reviews. 93 points
